RE: Music Thread - EMC_ - 06-05-2019 So I have a master playlist I listen off of that's way too long to post which makes me sad but I do have a suggestion for you Pengu. You should really try listening to Highly Suspect. Their album is called Mister Asylum. They're on the slightly harder end of "rock" and might be considered on the softer end of metal but I find them a refreshing take on what I consider the border area between the genres. Referring back to my master playlist though, the reason I sadly can't post it here is A) it's on iTunes and B) it's almost 900 songs long. To anyone who enjoys kinda soft chill music check out Silversun Pickups. They have a new album releasing soon and it seems rather good. Cage the Elephant released a new album which doesn't really fit their older style at all and is more Twenty One Pilots esc but has some pretty good songs on it. More of a grungy style I'd say but I could also be miscategorising the album. What is everyone's opinion on the newer Imagine Dragons album "Origins"? I personally am not fond of it as a whole but some of the songs have some good parts to them while not always being great as a song. Lastly, if you want me to work on compiling my master playlist in the a text doc let me know and I'll do my best. It shouldn't be too hard. EMC_ RE: Music Thread - CallioCraft - 06-10-2019 You should check out a song called Mr. Fear by SIAMESE. Their music videos are really cool too. I thought you said Siamese and I was happy because I LOVE Siamese lmao However, Mr Fear is a pretty good song, I like it. Y'all should check out Krrum, he's a British artist who is kinda like... quirky pop I guess? His most popular song is Evil Twin :> RE: Music Thread - CallioCraft - 06-11-2019 Also try the moss by cosmo sheldrake RE: Music Thread - Penguin - 06-12-2019 Y'all should listen to Thank You Scientist and Icarus the Owl, they're both slightly more progressive but very melodic. Thank You Scientist use a lot of jazz instrumentation while Icarus the Owl focus more on very fast repeating guitar lines as the accompaniment hecking good bands RE: Music Thread - EMC_ - 06-12-2019 Based off of what you guys are saying, I think I'm going to try to type up my playlist so you can give me recommendations lol. You guys seem to be a lot more knowledgeable about artists than me. RE: Music Thread - Penguin - 06-15-2019 Y'all I recently found a song called "Inexplicable" by the Correspondants and its SO GOOD I especially think that kat will love it :> https://open.spotify.com/track/3G05DblSK0kTRwE2SG7clZ?si=gJujZmXZRE2_uvX5X09BnQ RE: Music Thread - Penguin - 06-15-2019 ALSO if anyone's interested in following the Hometown Music spotify account (and listening to the car radio playlist which is actually the best) then do it!!! https://open.spotify.com/user/etwjhvbx4gbd0lawharcetscx?si=ZnwuHrkdToe0HuCcxXQNbA RE: Music Thread - Penguin - 06-17-2019 Found a way to get your playlists in text form!! http://www.playlist-converter.net Just sign into spotify and pick a playlist and it'll get all the data for you. So far, the hometown spotify page has been quite sad and empty... but this will be remedied soon! I'm going to start a weekly series of playlists (released every weekend!) which will cover a range of wild and whacky genres of music. My goals in this are to help everyone else enjoy and explore expression through sound as well as to produce some form of interaction with the server as a whole. So, if you have any suggestions: Post them in here! Music is something that everyone can relate to and participate in, and everyone has their own unique tastes and preferences.
This week's playlist: Tropical House!
Summer is just about to start (any minute now, you bloody british weather) and what is more appropriate than some summer party vibes! If you've never heard of tropical house before: don't worry.... neither had I until I got bored at work earlier this week and started searching random shit in the spotify search bar. Since then, I've somewhat fallen in love with the genre. Tropical house is a subgenre of deep house (itself a subgenre of house music). Deep house is a type of electronic music that started in the 80s and features lots of synth pads and ambient sounds along with a light bassline and percussion. The lyrics are usually more meaningful and often on the reflective side. In 2012, "tropical rave" was created by Unicorn Kid and later other artists started using a similar sound (but with less of the "rave" part) to create a more hous-ey sound. In 2013, Australian producer Thomas Jack refereed to this sound as "tropical house" as a bit of a joke, however the name stuck and more and more artists started to jump onto the producer-wagon over the next few years. The resulting genre is a laid back type of dance music with those fun vibes of summer parties mixed in, so enjoy! If you know any tropical house songs that you love, post them below and they can be added to the playlist! |
