What happend to the server? - andreasdb39 - 03-28-2016 Well the server changed (in my eyes) for the worse. The tight community has geen scrambled and mixed with maddness. Every time I come onto the server, like there are now 48 people online out of the 60. Three months ago, that wasn't the case, it was a nice and quiet server, without the jibber-jabber of guests or rookies. In my eyes the server has taken a stroll to the bad side... Now don't get me bad, I still love the server, but the umph of the server is gone ... RE: What happend to the server? - Clemster_1997 - 03-29-2016 Server hasnt at all changed for the worse, theres more players, which means more people to socialise with. If you don't branch out and socialise with the newer people then sure, its gonna seem like madness and its gonna get worse for you because some of those people are invetiably gonna leave and ur gonna lose people in ur group. Try talking to some of the newer people and you'll find the server alot better than it used to be RE: What happend to the server? - andreasdb39 - 03-29-2016 that's not what I mean. It's just the flair is a bit gone, in my eyes. Ofc new people are good, but it feels like it's growing without any end RE: What happend to the server? - TheNamesGames - 03-29-2016 Ive seen this problem also. I like the server more whenctheres just couple people on, and they are chattin' normally. Now there are 48 kids screaming about that someone griefed them. In my eyes, it aint so fun anymore. I often turn chat off, even on minechat! one problem is that people are talking about a certain thing, and when i type a long message about it, the wave of chat has already changed topic. In my eyes, it is awkward to send a message on totally differnet topic. Second problem is the amount of people. Almost always there is too much people on, and i cwnt get online. The forums are now empty, no one talks here much. All the old people ive known, have forgot me, or dont anymore play. It gets a little lonely sometimes in the storm of chat. RE: What happend to the server? - Beo - 03-29-2016 I do see what you mean. I often come on to find that I only recognize 3 or 4 out of the 50 people on. Most of my friends honestly aren't on much anymore either, but I still like to play so I stick around and talk to the few old friends and a few new ones. The expansion of the community isn't necessarily a bad thing, though I guess it's a matter of opinion. Just try to be open and give it a chance RE: What happend to the server? - TheNamesGames - 03-29-2016 (03-29-2016, 01:10 AM)Beo Wrote: I do see what you mean. The town I made my first build in is completely abandoned; it's so old it doesn't have logs anymore, and the players don't show up on /seen. Looking back to that time, it feels like a different world. The people and community were different back then, but it's likely because I've changed too. I wasn't social when I first joined, tbh I one of the first thoughts I had about the server was "Lol wtf is this place, a tutorial? Fuck thaaaat." A few weeks later, I did the tutorial anyways and began playing. My name was rarely ever in chat since I didn't speak all that much. (Lex was the reason I stayed, for some reason I thought she was cool or something idk). It's a lot more chaotic now than it was then, but I wouldn't say it changed for the worse. It changed in the respect that you wanted it to. You could make friends or lose friends, involve yourself or isolate yourself. I started talking to people (they're mostly nerds) and trying to work on my place in the community. It's been over a year now, I have no idea how long I've really been here, but using /seen on someone I used to spend time with, it's been over a year and five months. The "umph" is still there, it's just harder to find between all the new players. RE: What happend to the server? - Geckorian - 03-29-2016 I tend to be quiet on the server, not posting on chat often. But I to have noticed an influx of players and a change in the tone on the chat. It seems now, more than it was when I started in Dec '15 that there are more flames on chat, more talk of someone greifing, more need for the Mods and Admins to step in. Unfortunately that is human nature. The larger the group the harder it is to find like mined individuals. One thing that has recently started to annoy me, the server recently went from a player cap of 100 to a player cap of 60 and more than once in the last week I have not been able to get on because the server is full. I suspect this will become a bigger problem as we continue to vote the server up on various sights, giving it more attention. I guess it's the nature of a successful sight that it will grow beyond it's "cozy" nature. RE: What happend to the server? - ZoBot_ - 03-29-2016 I've been thinking about how we can tighten the community, as you've said that that was an aspect of the game that is now out of said, and was wondering what you guys thought about introducing an event that would help bring us together. This is, of course, just an idea I came up with and is not official- nor have I discussed this with anyone. Not sure if it's possible, but if people enter their igns into the event, and are then paired up with someone to talk to in private message, they then have to work out common interests or something. There could be multiple rounds, with a set time (maybe 5 or 10 minutes each). After the first round, you message your second person and after that the third person. Of course, after the event the players may be great friends, or never talk to each other again. It's an opportunity to meet new people, and may bring a more social atmosphere to the server for those involved Idk, what do you guys think? If this event was real, how often do you think it should be hosted? (has to be reasonable as staff already have a lot on their hands, and it would be a challenge to keep up.) |
