I mean, I used a VPN on my main when you guys claimed an "IP ban" and it still gave me an IP ban message, but using my actual IP on an alt worked. So either minecraft is lying or you're phonies.
I honestly don't give a shit about being unbanned but why you lyin?

Your VPN would have one IP ( or a set of multiple IP's), your home internet service provider would give you a completely different IP. They are not at all related. If you connect to anything out in the intertoobwebz via your VPN, from your home provider, the MC server only sees the VPN IP, not your home service provider's IP. No one's lying, you just don't understand how the internet works.
