Warps won't be any cheaper but we're discussing a reclaim period where you can only rebuy warps you previously owned.

So my question is, are we certain a server reset will actually help? The prevalent sentiment about 1.14 seemed to be that it was just a laggy mess overall for large multiplayer servers. Have there been reports coming in that SMP servers that started totally anew have experienced significantly better performance?

The addition of a second world (the 1.13+ world) added another source of lag. As frost put it "we were basically running 2 servers on one" so we're fairly confident a reset will help. Also, the sheer amount of player data stored on the server could be bogging it down a bit so deleting it all and creating a fresh start for us and the server could (and should) alleviate some of our problems.

Old.hometownmc.com recently closed and the old map was deleted. We hope to see this map moved there after we reset or before.

That’s something we’re looking into but currently it doesn’t seem feasible due to the sheer size of the map. This is something we ran into last time we reset and it wasn’t possible then, but we’ll keep an eye open for something that might make it possible now.

HOWEVER we are currently discussing the possibility of changing up the voting ranks, whether it be removing old ones that were ultimately frivolous or adding new ones we thinking would truly be a "rank up" from where the previous rank had you.

Uh, Star, how long will this catastrophe take?
A: First of all, thanks for the faith you have in us, but once the server goes down for a reset, it will take a few days to clear out old data, secure old builds, and set up the new server again. There's no concrete timeline we can present to you right now because something will undoubtedly go wrong and cause a delay, but we will of course keep you updated using the Hometown Official Discord.

A: One month from today (*Star's time), so on the fifth of October. There will be annoucements before anything happens to remind you of when this is. You can continue playing on the server until this happens, however if this seems like an unreasonable timeline (too long? too short?) please let us know in the comments below.
