Thank you for the post. Very well written and your points are exactly why claim blocks were added to the server. idk where the pillar/sign claiming thing started, but it is definitely not official and selfish to hog an entire biome with lava walls.
Claim blocks are really useful if used properly and saves staff time by discouraging griefers. Maybe the confusion with the plugin is a result of lack of explanation which we could work on.
