Just a note about this - this not just "could" happen again, it will happen again. Most log purges are done on purpose, as the log file begins to get too large to keep around. Even though it's just a text file, logging every single block action 24/7 takes up a lot of space after half a year or so. So if that frightens you, claim yo shit.
