Ban Appeal - Feuerstern_44 II
#1
So, It’s been 3 months… wait only?! It felt like half an eternity… guess that’s life.
Here I go again.
____________________________________________
Server you were banned on (SMP/Discord): SMP

Minecraft username: Feuerstern_44

Reason for your ban (exactly what it says when you try to log in!): “Constantly attempting to cheese / gain unfair advantage(s) in server events through various means. […] Please reflect on how you’ve behaved during the events today (“today” being the 19th of July 2026) […]”

Who banned you: “staff”

Why should you be unbanned (Why should we give you a second chance?):

First, I’d like to start with saying this appeal will be considerably shorter, since a majority of the last one was rather irrelevant due to it being me talking about why I did what I did.
Second, I pasted in a quote from Nether’s reply to my last appeal, since I believe it sums up the central issue rather well:
“You wrote, "I enjoy finding creative solutions and that does clash with what the events usually stand for." We appreciate the honesty of that statement because we believe it accurately summarizes the concern staff have reached over time. Creative problem solving is not inherently a negative quality. In many situations, it is an asset. However, competitive server events rely on participants agreeing to solve challenges within the intended rules and mechanics established by the event organizers. Your appeal repeatedly demonstrates an approach that can be summarized as, "If the game allows it, I will use it unless I am explicitly prevented from doing so." That philosophy fundamentally conflicts with the spirit of events that are designed around fairness and equal conditions for every participant.”

The fact I enjoy finding creative solutions to situations hasn’t changed and that won’t change. However, my approach to events, if I even decide to participate in them, has.
If I’m allowed to return, I plan on only participating in events which have either no clear winner, have no way of giving a competitive advantage to someone who has certain items (e.g. parkour if that parkour has a separate inventory) and stay away from events like for example the Killathon where I know I have my ways of getting things in there I should not have (which I want to talk on how I got the items in there in the first place anyway if that wasn’t resolved yet). The one thing exempt from that are certain pvp events since I enjoy those too much to just drop, so at the time of first writing this for those I planned to use the philosophy of “If it doesn’t come from the game, it’s not allowed” until I noticed, that that philosophy is also kind of what got me banned, so I’d need something even more restrictive. The best idea that comes to me as of posting this is “If I find an unintended advantage I leave the event.” Then again, to find an advantage one has to use it to confirm it which brings me right back to the start. So, I suppose the safest way is just not to participate in certain events at all.

Regarding the Maze event where I used wind charges, lunge swapped and used Swift Sneak leggings, I will never think of taking off my armour unless I feel completely safe since I am someone who will expect a trap behind every corner, even if they’re not allowed, so that’s a me problem and if that hinders my return then that’s that, nothing I can really do about it.

However, if an event keeps the inventory of the main server (and it’s not a pvp event which will never happen and IF it does I’d imagine it having special rules/a rule regarding inventory), If I decide to participate, I plan on going in there with nothing which grants me additional mobility (I do not count Swift Sneak to that since most people have that on their armour and while my leggings were Swift Sneak 5 or 6 iirc, this, to me at least, is slightly irrelevant since other people have things higher than that (and even if, I could just switch leggings, provided I think about it). I realise this is a rather crude statement and can be interpreted as a lack of will to cooperate, however I feel it's also important to at least in this specific issue bring up my own point of view. I am willing to elaborate further on this if needed, though I don't believe it to be imperative for this first message.

Nether (or I guess the Staff team, Nether just wrote it) also mentioned a consistent pattern of incidents. The fact remains I am good at identifying unintended advantages. I can’t really unsee that, the only thing I could do is not act on them/report them and then not act on them.
There was also the following quote mentioned: "Is what I am about to do consistent with the spirit of the event?" This now begs the question “What is the spirit of said event?” Which now brings one to philosophy or ethics instead of Minecraft, but I digress. In the end it’s rather simple.
Reflecting, the solution to it all was rather simple: Never show up. I know it may sound weird and like the easy way out, but that is the best solution I can come up with to say with 100% certainty that what happened won’t repeat. If I don’t show up, I can’t break rules, and that equation has – as far as I’m aware only a single flaw: I don’t need to be unbanned to “not show up”.
TLDR:
Participating in events and using what I had on hand, even if it wasn’t part of said events is what got me banned in the first place so not participating in certain events (aka events with a certain winner (which aren’t build comps), events where certain items grant advantages and events I can manipulate from outside) to name a few is what (among other things) will help me not get banned again.

Why do you want to come back:

This one really hasn’t changed much.
While I could Copy Paste the text from last time, more words does not always equal better. Getting to be back with people I’ve got to know, and meeting new faces won’t get old, it’s honestly what I’d look forward to the most if I’m unbanned. Plus, I personally would say my legacy on the server is not yet complete, however that’s more of a secondary thing. Christmas is coming around and I would like to participate in the Secret Santa event once more (Yes Santa’s Village is a bonus, I’d be lying to say I’d not look forward to that as well).
Or the TLDR for this section: “I miss HT and would like to see the server again.

Oh yeah, a few more slightly unrelated things:

Same deal as my last appeal, pre-written in Microsoft Word and then pasted into the forums, no AI used (except if you count Word’s Grammar Tool as AI).
I was also wondering if my bedrock (.Feuerstern44245) account got banned, I would assume so, but I didn’t want to test it in case it wasn’t which would count as ban evasion. If so, then this appeal is also for the bedrock, though that is more or less self-explanatory.

In the end it’s a simple equation really. 0 or 1. No or Yes. Nothing or Something.
I hope to be able to see HT again somewhat soon but that isn’t up to me. Should this appeal be denied, I think it’s best I treat this like a permanent ban for at least a year or two, since I realise three months looks like no time at all and I will admit, reflecting isn’t my strongest suit.

See you around I guess
