Just the other day i installed the latest version of optifine which is 1.8.7 from what i see. The problem is when i installed it succesfully loaded up minecraft and then try'd to join Hometown the screen said "Download Terrain" and then minecraft crashes when I log on any server as well of Single Player. Any suggestions of how I can fix this?

The last version is 1.8.9, but i think you altrady knew that. Did forget any mods on?

I removed all mods from my pc a couple months ago after i installed optifine and saw the crash i restarted my pc and the same thing kept happening but after i uninstalled optifine everything was fine again so i guess I cant use optifine?

When it crashes, I'm assuming it gives you a crash log? could you post a picture or notepad document of that?

When it crashes the whole minecraft thing just shuts down the launcher does not pop back up or anything. As soon it crashes my pc freezes for like a min then it unfreze and the launcher never opens.

Well, I'll need some information from you then. What is your minecraft launcher version? What type of optifine are you using (ultra? regular?)? are you running a 64 bit os? how much ram do you have?

I'm using a 16gb ram pc. my launcher version is 1.6.5.1. i try'd using ultra optifine and then regular they both dont work.

interesting, well, considering you havent used the wrong version of anything, im not sure whats wrong
