Ban Appeal
#1
Server you were banned on (SMP/Discord): SMP

Minecraft name: JackTheMan5225

Reason for your ban (exactly what it says when you try to log in!):  xRay

Who banned you: ThatOneWolfe

Why should you be unbanned (Why should we give you a second chance?): I dunno, I was doing it because I wanted more money, I understood that this was unfair to players who did the work to get diamonds the normal way, and I knew it was against the rules, No risk no reward right? This happened a while ago, so if I remember right, I was just anxious to get out of the early game, and was just being lazy to get the diamonds I needed, but I pinky Promise not to do it again. Also I had lots of progress that was achieved fair and square that I would like back, like my base. I put hours into this server. I also remember being a bit of a joker with the staff, not really rude, but just goofing around on important issues, so I understand why you may have had low patience with me. (esptree probably remembers me)

Why do you want to come back: I had lots of fun on this server, there is not really a lot of servers like this. I had lots of progress that I want back, and it was a lot of fun.

I attepted to repeal my ban several months ago, but failed. But I swear I'm a changed man. Give me a Chance dawg!

Cil is unavailable for the time being, so I will be handling your ban appeal on their behalf.

I appreciate your honesty in admitting that you did use x-ray. Often times player deny it outright even though we don't ban without being sure beyond a reasonable doubt.

I'd like to have you answer a few questions to ensure your understanding of the effects your choices can have, please answer each of these questions with some thought and effort, not just a short, one-sentence response:

1. Why do you think we have a zero-tolerance policy on x-ray, including any x-ray-like mining activities?

2. How does x-raying and x-ray-like mining affect other players? How does it affect shop owners? How does it affect the server's economy as a whole?

3. Why should a second chance be given to someone who was well aware of the rules and chose to break them anyway?

1. Why do you think we have a zero-tolerance policy on x-ray, including any x-ray-like mining activities?

I believe x-ray is banned from the Hometown server because it takes away the rarity of certain items and resources, and allows players to gather an extreme amount of said items. This can understandably upset lots of players who would prefer that these items keep their value, and is ultimately unfair to them. X-raying is banned on most servers, but is particularly bad on Hometown due to the server having a currency that can be used to buy, sell, trade, or pay for all aspects of the server. Because certain items (diamonds mainly) can be sold for profit, x-raying provides a much bigger advantage than just good armor and tools.

2. How does x-raying and x-ray-like mining affect other players? How does it affect shop owners? How does it affect the server's economy as a whole?

All money on the server gets its value from the items sold for it. The items get their value from the time and labor it takes to gather them. Because the items get their value from the labor, and x-raying takes away that labor, the materials gathered from x-raying virtually have no value. This means that selling the x-rayed materials takes away the value from the server's dollar. As seen in the real world when the U.S. government prints more money, as the value of the dollar goes down, prices go up. So, x-raying pretty much brings inflation to the server, which is bad for shop owners and buyers because it makes it harder for them to buy basic items.

3. Why should a second chance be given to someone who was well aware of the rules and chose to break them anyway?

I can't give a reason that shows I deserve to be unbanned. As you say I willingly broke the rules with a full understanding of what they were. But I can say that I instantly regretted what I did and I promise not to do it again (if I were to be unbanned). I will also say that I only really realized how fun playing on the Hometown server was, after I was unable to do so, and I kinda find that funny.

Thank you for the thorough responses.

It seems you do understand all aspects of this ban and why we take it so seriously. Since it has been quite a while that you've been banned now, we'll consider your sentence ''time served''.

Upon your return, you'll notice that you balance has been reset to $0, and any mining valuables or products of mining valuables have been confiscated, as per our protocol with all x-ray unbans.

Welcome back.
