PSA: On IP-Advertising
#1
Hello, denizens of HomeTown.

It has come to the attention of the staff-team that there are players among us who are advertising our IP on other servers; this stops now.  The HomeTown staff-team neither condones nor tolerates this behavior.  We do not need your help advertising, we do not ask for your help advertising.  All advertisements are handled by FrostVINCENT via appropriate means on server-advertising websites.  Unsolicited, public IP-advertising on other servers' public chatrooms and forums does not help us, it negatively affects inter-server relations to the point where it requires damage-control.

Because of this, we will make the rule on IP-advertising clearer via the following addendum: Any player/s caught IP-advertising the HomeTown IP address on another server will be IP-banned on the HomeTown server.

From this point on, if it comes to our attention that a player on our server has advertised our IP address in the manner discussed, then an investigation will be launched–the player/s involved will be banned only if the allegations are proved to be true.  Those of you who are engaging in this behavior, stop immediately or you will be dealt with.  You have been warned.

If it's an unsolicited, public advertisement of our IP on another server, then the reporting of the offending player/s to us would be helpful.

If you want to report someone, then–please–send any staff-member of your choosing a screenshot of the player advertising our IP via private message.  Also, within that private message, enclose the server's name, IP-address, and forums for us to contact that server's staff-team to rectify the issue.

Are chat logs acceptable? Or only screenshots directly in game?

Either one works.  On the matter of chatlogs, we ask for the log.gz files and the IGN of the player.  Screenshots would be easier in general.  That being said, since we just now implemented this in official capacity, we'll only start instituting bans on players beyond this point for new/continued offenses.  However, knowing who has been engaging in this behavior would be helpful so we can have a talk with them.
