Reason for not responding to message for accidentally digging in somebody’s yard was because I thought the messasge was to warn me and I didn’t need to respond.

If you don't respond, we have no way of knowing whether you saw the message or not.
Since you didn't damage the other player's structure and I don't want to ruin your friend's night, I will go ahead and lift the ban. But in the future, please do not dig, build or alter anything within 100 blocks of another player's build, and if a staff member addresses you, answer. "OK sorry, I didn't realize" would have been enough to save everybody the hassle of a ban.
