Building Contest!

This year I thought we could try a new build contest for the Christmas season!

Some of you may be familiar with building and/or decorating gingerbread houses around this time of year...

I would love to see what you can come up with building and decorating your own gingerbread house in minecraft!

Judging will be similar to that of the pumpkin carving contest some of you may be familiar with, categories such as ''Cutest'' ''Funniest'' ''Most Creative" etc!
And yes... there will be a participation prize for everyone!

AND my very favorite of your builds will be chosen to be moved to /warp SantasVillage for the next holiday season!

So head on over to /warp build and choose a plot, right-click or tap the sign outside the plot you choose to claim it, and your name will appear on the sign!

(/warp build2 and /warp build3 for quicker access to sections B and C)

Just one person can claim a sign/plot, so if you are wanting to work together with someone else, you'll need a Mod or Admin to add your teammate to the plot.

The contest will run from today, December 7th,

through New Years Eve, December 31st!

(don't worry about exact time, I will close the contest the morning of January 1st)

That means it's time for Secret Santa!

For those who have never done a Secret Santa, fret not! The concept is simple. Either reply to this thread with your in-game name (please, no nicks), post your in-game name in #secret-santa on Discord, or /mail me. After about a week and a half, on December 15th, I'll lock this thread, draw names, and /mail you the person you're responsible for gifting to. Head on over to /warp SecretSanta (the warp will be opened on the 15th) and find the chest with your person's name on it. A lectern will be available by your chest for you to put your wishlist!

Gifts will be due by 11:59 P.M (EST) on Wednesday, December 24th. Gifts will be opened on Thursday the 25th whenever I unlock the chests.

Please put effort into your gifts! Think about something you would be happy to receive and try to put the same effort into your gift. Good gift ≠ expensive! I know not everyone has tons of money to spend, but there are plenty of other ways to make thoughtful and clever gifts without draining your balance [Image: smile.png]

Pumpkin Carving Contest!

It's spooky season yet again, so of course it's time for another Pumpkin Carving Contest!

If you'd like to participate, head on over to /warp pumpkincontest and pick out your pumpkin! Right-click the sign of the plot you want to use in order to get build perms inside it. If you want your pumpkin to be judged specifically at night time, please leave a sign in your plot saying so. You have until October 30th to carve or decorate your pumpkin, and then staff will judge and pick a few of our favorites in a variety of categories, including but not limited to:

- Spookiest
- Most Creative
- Most Disturbing
- Cutest
- Staff Favorite

etc!

Previous year's pumpkins have been saved and placed all around the edges of the contest, so go around and check them out if you want some ideas or inspiration!

Unfortunately, Duty was unable to take accountability or acknowledge any of the team members advise on any action and instead saw these kind statements as attacks instead and would respond back with attacks of her own. This would stir up a lot of drama and negative discourse from within the staff team and I decided that I would want to talk to her personally about this so that we could have her back on the staff team. At the end of the day, I was always rooting for her to be receptive of my gesture and unbiased conversations since I’ve always held high respect and admiration for Duty, but she instead did not take my advice and continually showed that she could not let go of personal grudges, take accountability, or even acknowledge anyone else’s perspective on this topic.

During this period where Duty was not staff, the then started a campaign to manipulate members of our community to do her bidding with messages like:
- “will you do something for me? Don’t say it was me”
- “let’s do [] to wind up the staff and community”
- instructing players to play along with her #suggestions that were submitted with the sole intent of causing staff “to sweat” and to stir server drama
- instructing players to ghost certain staff and send mgs to others to create drama and false rumors around the server.

These players that Duty targeted, after a few conversations felt uncomfortable enough to then report this behavior to staff. Because of the number of people reporting this behavior from Duty and the uneasiness of myself watching members of our community be manipulated to a point of feeling extreme uncomfortability to do someone else’s bidding, the rest of the staff voted whether Duty should be banned to preserve the safety and comfort of our community. This vote passed with all staff either voting yes to protect the community or abstaining.

Personally, I lean on my emotions to a fault sometimes and at the end of the day I was still rooting for Duty to be above all this and return to the community. I initially was against the ban, but after a couple final private conversations with Duty, I felt that this had gone too far and the ban had to happen to protect our community. Duty is welcomed to appeal the ban and a path to return is most definitely welcomed and encouraged. I have no intentions of shutting her off from this community permanently as at the end of the day I still respect and admire her.

This was the entire and full context of what recently transpired, and it was very disappointing and sad to see such a valuable and loved community member be banned. If anyone has any questions or needs more context or has anything they’d like to express or ask about – please do not hesitate to msg me and ask.]]>
