Official Poll on Reset
#61
Option 2 for me... creative old world with economy fix and fresh new world sounds good to me, especially as older players more likely to have large towns can continue. I, however, will be leaving the server whatever happens as I have a SP copy of my builds without other people's stuff around them. I still voted because I believe 2 is better for the future of the server.

Since I am leaving, is it possible to donate my VIP2 to The_4thDoctor once either of these options happen?
The world has moved on, they say...

I'm for a full, immediate reset as we have no clue when new biomes will be added.  It could be a year down the road and it's putting off the current issues on the server.  If there is to be a new world, it should not be contingent on new biomes being added, as the map we're on–from its initiation–has had new biomes added.

Also, the fact we won't get a new map until new biomes are added still does not address the issue of overcrowding of builds on the server to the point where new players cannot find space to build easily.  The people who argued against the /rand command being instituted out of fear of griefers being teleported into their homes are partially responsible for this outcome.  They want to keep their builds, the crowded map, and not have to deal with the consequences; it is selfish at its core.

This is not the first time a reset has come up either.  I was here when the talks of a reset and a vote occurred, and I'm seeing all the same, tired arguments.  If we had reset before, we wouldn't be having these issues were are currently having, and the people who argued they had builds so the server should not reset wouldn't have furthered their builds more and make it more difficult to let go.  I'm tired of that circular reasoning: I have builds, so we shouldn't reset; we shouldn't reset because I have builds.  That sentiment is circular reasoning and I'm tired of the people using it to further the amount of builds they have to attempt to strengthen that argument.

Not only that, but I'll make my argument again from when a reset was brought up before.  For the sentimentalists, how long do you believe HomeTown will last?  It won't go on forever.  If you believe otherwise, then you have some issues you may want sort out.  Your builds will be gone at the end of the day, so how about giving new people some space to play and make their own memories within this fantastic community.  A community is not based on its build or resources, it's based on its player-base.

I agree grimm, I have voted option 2: I don't like it either, it hurts, but it is important

The Needs Of The Many, Outweigh The Needs Of The Few. and I have played on Hometown long enough to know this, MANY more will join, and it is up to us to set the brand new world for them The Current Map is old, 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8, Nether is only 1.7, End is 1.6, it is wrong to the new players, and adding these recourse worlds wont help, it only makes the issue more obvious. It hurts but I know it is finally time, after 2 other talks this one will be the final

Let us enter Hometown's NEW AGE
Yeah mate, i agree with you both, completely. If we don't do something now it will never happen

With a reset we get to redesign the economy so that each and every single one of you who say "but I worked so hard for my money" will be able to put in the same amount of effort and get more. Your money is also currently worthless on the server. Every new player starts with $100, which allows them to buy 70 diamonds. Everyone who thinks that things are fine and dandy, you don't see a problem with that? What about that people can buy a crap ton of diamonds just from voting for 1 day?

We need to fix the economy and stop players from being able to exploit new players and vote daily just to get rich. If we put actual time/work value into the value of money, diamonds will no longer be worthless. Your hard earned items will no longer be worthless. I get that you don't want to lose your stuff, but in the long run everyone who votes to keep their stuff is preventing future new players from being able to earn money fairly, and really just perpetuating the terrible economy that we have on the server. Voting option 1 is akin to voting for what's happened in Greece over the last couple decades: people voting for free stuff, free money, and a ridiculous economy, and not caring at all about what happens to future generations.

TL;DR
In short, if you want a better, more improved server, vote for option 2. If you want to keep a broken server that has been on a steady decline where the only reason why people stay is the community and not the gameplay, choose option 1. If you want money to mean something, choose option 2. If you want tons and tons of useless, worthless money, choose option 1. You will still keep your builds, and keep all your possessions on the old world. But the new world will have a fresh economy that will be ripe with a chance for everyone to have a fair shot at baltop 1 based on the actual work they put in, not because they vote daily or exploit new players (among some other minor improvements).

Vote for the future, not for the past.
100% agree with everything you said there. we need to do this now. Option 2 FTW

I am completely for a reset, and here's why:

-The economy is so broken that new players have virtually no chance to compete in it.

-The map is crowded with abandoned builds.

-The map does not have an abundance of newer blocks since it's an old version. (Granite, Andesite, etc)
-Resource world works but we shouldn't need it.

-You'll still be able to access and complete your current builds, separately from survival.

-The server could actually die eventually if we don't ever reset.

For those of you considering leaving the server if we reset:

It would be pointless. You won't have the same community, and you'll have to be starting over no matter what you do after the reset. It would be better to start over with friends than to start over with strangers.

my build wont be able to be completed with my cats, animals, villagers, spawners to maintain my tools etc. just not interested in using creative to finish it either. soul-less and empty.

in a month who is going to care if my build is transplanted in a far away location.

At this time I'm unsure but I do know that ranks will carry over.

Option 2 all the way

I'm personally with option 2, i want all the abandoned builds eradicated, and a fresh new start.
For all those who love their old builds, you can always explore the old world. Either way, no one will be happy, and the old world will never be the same.

I vote for Option 1. I've spent a lot of time building on the server and don't want to lose it all. I build here because I believe it was a steady server that wouldn't just disappear over night...

If the old world is adventure only, you might as well just delete it because it will be useless to me.

i do not like the idea of reset. honestly. dont think it is a fun idea. i mean, at all. of course its only my opinion. if the reset comes, i think i wont be playing, like, at all. but the community wants what it wants, and im part of it, so i just have to accept whats coming.
