That's why the suggestion was emerald ore, so you couldn't just farm it, likely the same reason it buys iron and gold ore instead of ingots.

Emeralds are too easy to farm, I was able to get a beacon base of them in like a couple days on the old world with villager trading.
Doing the ore means you have to have found it while mining.

That's very true, I don't use villagers as I don't understand them but I see how easy others can get them.

We still don't want to do emerald ore though, on account of it generating only in Extreme Hills biomes.

Yeah I understand how that would be an advantage, as I live in an extreme hills biome and often find emeralds while mining.
