How do you farm an Ender dragon? Is there a way to spawn them in or do you just find them randomly?

Four endercrystals placed on the shrin-y thing with the black goo. Endercrystals are literally 8 glass, a ghast tear, and an eye of ender (blaze powder + ender pearl). Shit's inexpensive af. Just go to buysell and it's cost you like 350.

I have all the materials but... how do you get to those shriney things? Are strongholds the only way? If so, how common are they? Sry for all the questions I just want the egg/head if that's even a thing
