Why should you be unbanned (Why should we give you a second chance?): You should unban me because i really enjoy playing on this server i have found myself getting along with everyone and the vibe is great i have spent to long on my zoo for me to be just banned like this and i understand that poke doesnt believe me about not griefing but i really dont remember i have a super stressful life outside of here i forget a lot of things i apologise for that ill make right whatever it is that i did he says i mined diamond blocks i probably did but like i said i dont remember it ill take accountability either way it wont happen again weather im unbanned or not 

Why do you want to come back: I really enjoy the server i have spent a long time making a project i didnt even get to finish i apologize for breaking the diamond blocks im sure you guys have proof i just genuinely dont remember

Where to start... 

Let's get a look at why I initially wanted to talk to you:

This is the reason we initially talked, I wanted to know why you saw fit to grief this house in the old overworld the day prior, and not only that, why you then decided to try and hide the theft with gold blocks. You were given multiple chances to tell the truth but decided not to.

Instead, you claimed not to know why we were talking or how this happened.
You "don't recall breaking things" but even after banning you I found more grief still. From that day alone I have you stealing/altering 100+ items (most of which being valuable spawn eggs), 40+ block changes, as well as 6 armorstands/item frames where you removed and replaced specifically items of value including armor, weapons (diamond sword), and a diamond which you then decided to keep for yourself. That's over $5k in-game money that we know of over the course of more than a few hours. 

And, it appears the intended goal of all of this was to gain enough to fund your project. The diamond blocks and spawn eggs you stole were immediately sold to shops whereupon you used the funds to purchase glass and quartz for your zoo that you were concerned about.

With this, I find it hard to believe you "don't remember" as there was premeditated behavior to steal goods, hide the theft, make a profit: to fund a project. I believe you when you say you like playing on here and wanted to work on your zoo, but my question is: Why should you be allowed back on given this incident, regardless of whether you "remember" or not? 
What assurances do we as staff have that this will not happen again?
I ask this because you still have yet to own up to the theft, break & entering, lying, etc.

Your end-goal in our conversation also appeared to be evading being punished with your main concern being:

   

Rather than actually owning up to something you very clearly thought out.

I'm going to need to see a much more thorough appeal that addresses not only the original issue, but also these rule-violations you failed to mention in our conversation to begin considering removing your ban.

im not even going to argue about anything imma just own up to it yeah i did all that yeah i used it to fund my zoo what i did do was make sure those builds were older builds and didnt see any issues with using old stuff but as i see it now it was pretty dumb of me to do so and then lie to you about it i however really dont remember breaking the diamond blocks and replacing them with gold blocks obviously it did happen you have the proof here all laid out in front of me i fucked up im owning up to it i just want to be able to play again with everyone its a really great community to be apart of and i apologise i fucked up ill make it all right and give back whatever it was i took if you could please find it in your heart to let me back i can promise i wont break any rules again and ill make right what i have done

i want to touch base on this for a hot minute as one of the builds you stole from and broke into was mine. with that it is not an old build and is actively used, so what was deciding factor to say a build was old or not?

id say that question is 100 percent opinion based and my opinion is way different that anyone else's just like yours id say for me tho is it genuinely didnt look like anyone has been around for awhile in any of the bases i visted in my time most of the factors included signs dated years back or straight up no claims at all so yea i as you guys say broke into it a building i was allowed to just walk into or the walls couldve been destroyed which was always put back i really was just looking at ideas when going around to bases so with everything being said does it really matter if i argue my case or not? i mean really ive told you my side and confessed to the stuff that i do remember i really have nothing else to say to yall and am willing to accept the punishment that is given as i already have since im appealing a ban so i can try to salvage whats left of whatever so i can finish my zoo and enjoy my birthday on there like ive been planning to do since i started the zoo i really am sorry that i broke the rules i knew it was wrong and i still did it i own up to it i wont do it again im not willing to be put in this situation again i just want to play the server with the friends i have made bc of said server i fucked up and am taking responsibility of my dumbass actions

this is not an argue your side of the case thing honestly, while I do appreciate your candor in the matter, and I am sure Poke does as well, this is more of a trying to understand what your decision was made from is all. with that the only other piece of advice that I have for you moving forward from this is, even though something is not claimed does not mean that you can break things to gain access to the builds. while I'm sure you understand that now I still fell its needs to be said. with that I shall leave the rest of this appeal to Poke.

i want to start off by saying thank you vil and poke for your time my appologies for having yall have to deal with this but with taht being said i cant really give you an answer to that there wasnt a rhyme or reason behind it i genuinely just started out as looking at builds then turned into well i guess since its a *old* build they wont miss it or care if i do this but seeing as the situation im in now ythey did care and i apologize for that

As with Vil, I appreciate your candor and taking responsibility for your actions, I think that's important. And, to make my expectations clear, I don’t believe it’s natural for anyone to immediately come clean when caught, I know that would be hard for me. It's a perfectly natural response to try to protect oneself, and I wouldn’t hold that against you.
 
Further, we've already come to the point where you've admitted your mistake, apologized, and explained at least part of your reasoning; so, I won't ask more from you for the first two. I would, however, like to drill down a bit more on your reasoning. With your explanation, it does appear to me that while some of your behavior was rent-seeking/self-interested, it wasn’t malicious. You did take into consideration other players that hadn’t been on in awhile, now whether that was they would be less likely to be hurt by it, or you’d be less likely to get caught, I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

So, to wrap up, I have a few more questions: 
 
o If you were in these player's positions, how would you feel seeing your hard-earned materials stolen?
o Looking back, what led you to grief in the first place, and how have your thoughts on that changed since being banned?
o Why do you think we take griefing seriously? What problems does it cause beyond just breaking blocks - both for the individual and the broader community as a whole?

im not really sure how id feel about it if it was in the beginning stages of the server with no mob farms no anything i think id be fairly upset but as the server progresses more id be less upset since everything that was taken is replaceable at a cheaper rate then when it started im sure id however would still be upset and im not really sure what led me to grief i think it was a mix of wanting to get the zoo done and ready by feb 26th [my bday] so i can invite whomever into the zoo and celbrate my bday and just seeing it there and was able to do so so i did and it really put a hinder on those plans with my dumb decisions i definitely think differently now and how it affects players more than just taking a "few" items they worked hard on that and i took it from them and i think it causes a lot of issues cause you or any staff team has to approach said person about the issues at hand and try to get them to reason with you and come clean about said stuff like you said it deffinitely is a natural response for most people and then how it affected me and the community there was a couple people i have been playing with that are fairly upset i havent been able to play since its my claim the zoo is on it and they enjoyed playing with me ingame and i enjoyed it as well lots of good memories have been made it definitely is a crapping situation i have put myself in and the friends i have made along the way my thoughts on it as a whole are definitely different i genuinely think ill take a look at a bigger picture now rather than just what i want i enjoy playing on the server i havent been able to find a really good server like this in awhile i dont really know what else to add if you think i missed something that you asked of me please tell me ill gladly go over it

I’m glad that you put more effort into this response, but I’m afraid you have yet to answer the last question. I’m glad that you’re eager to see your friends again, but a key part of this process is understanding the *why* of the server’s rules. The community is an integral part of HomeTown maybe that has something to do with it.

When I ask how does this affect the community, I do not mean your absence from being banned. I mean the goods that were stolen. How does it affect the owner? If we let everyone steal what would that do?

Contrast our server with one like 2b2t that does let everyone steal. What are some key differences between the two servers, OR emotions that may come with the uncertainty of that setup? Would that make you want to stay? These are ideas to get you thinking along the lines I’m hinting at. So, again:

o Why do you think we take griefing seriously? What problems does it cause beyond just breaking blocks - both for the individual (stolen from) and the broader community as a whole?
