I too have been tinkering with builds on single player.  Lately I have been on a flat world working out city blocks for a new town. Each city block is made up of 4 16x16 grids surrounded by an avenue (pic posted). People feel free to take the design and rework it to your needs.

I really like the idea. I think I'm going to skip shops and build a city on the new server. I had one on the old server, but after that I build the third house, I abandoned the city.
